Summary
In September 1922, the Circus Salmagundi arrives in Victoria, B.C. to perform at the distinguished Willows Exhibition Grounds, but a motorcar mishap leads Rose the Tattooed Lady to the residence of a gentleman doctor. While there, his invalid niece suffers a seizure, providing the perfect distraction for the theft of a family heirloom: a diamond tiara.
Furious that the thief used a frail woman as an unwitting pawn, Rose vows to return the jewels and bring the criminal to justice, but in the polished neighbourhood of Oak Bay, nothing is quite what it seems. Secrets, intrigues and betrayals: every door hides another enigma, and what starts as a jewel theft soon becomes a far more sinister crime.
To solve the mystery and return ‘A Crown of Stars’, Rose must use her wits, her devil-may-care attitude, her circus connections… and the help of a shy young tourist named Agatha Christie.
